I think it’s safe to say there aren’t too many people sad to see 2020 come to an end. This has not been the most stellar of years and has brought many trials and tribulations. From the loss of some of our most revered celebrities (#Wakanda Forever/ #MambaOut); to the pandemic closing schools and businesses shutdown, death tolls rising, families displaced from homes, vacations and graduations cancelled. We faced tragedies no one would have dreamed.

So the hope that each new year brings is stronger than ever looking to 2021. Hope for the transition of power in our nations government. Hope for justice and unity among the human race. Hope for an end to the world changing pandemic. It’s a new year — new goals — new resolutions.
But what do we do when the “happy” of the new year wears off? When January 1st is the same as December 1st? What do we do when the return to work begins and it’s still in our living room? We are still wearing masks. School may or may not be in person we just have to wait with each passing week to see. When the case count still goes up, when death still comes to our families and bills are still do. When reality that the new year still holds issues of the old year.
What do we do when the calendar changes but life doesn’t?
Remember these three things:
- God is greater than anything happening to us – “But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.” 1 John 4:4 NLT
- God IS with us – “So we can say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?’” Hebrews 13:6 NLT
- God is still GOD – “I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed.” Malachi 3:6 NLT
Whether or not change is going on around us, doesn’t mean change cannot happen within us. This year may look similar to last year, but I challenge us to change our perspective. Let the truth and of God’s word work on our internal in the midst of our external, to bring us forth as pure gold.
The calendar changed… life didn’t – But YOU CAN!

[…] Can you believe we are in a new year?! So much happened in the world over the past 365 days. I know for me, 2021 brought a variety of situations my way. Many thought when 2020 went away, the Coronavirus would go away with it. However, last year proved us wrong. The world soon realized that although The Calendar Changed, Life Didn’t. […]
