Think on These Things:Week 3

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

Whatsoever is RIGHT

Right does not equal easy. However, that does not excuse us from doing it anyway. Today’s verse says that we should not get tired of doing the right thing, because we will reap if we don’t faint or give up. In other words, when we do what is right, we plant spiritual seeds. As we continue to do right and treat others right, the seeds grow. Eventually,  in God’s time not ours, the crop will be harvested for our benefit.

God knows that doing what’s right is hard. He gives us example after example throughout His word. He never expected us to do it alone. Apart from Christ,  our human nature is not inclined to right thinking, speaking or treatment of one another. This is why Paul tells to “let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 2:5).  It can be difficult to do what is right in the midst of all the wrong going on around us. Witnessing others who are living any kind of way but seemingly  reaping the reward, can be troubling. This is why we are reminded to not be envious of those who do wrong. What may look good on the outside can be destructive on the inside.

Doing what’s right honors God. As His children we are called to live a godly life. God loves us, so we do what is right to show our love for Him and bring honor to Him. Let’s focus our minds on what is right in the eyes of God. Allow right thinking, to turn into right speaking. Speaking to turn into right actions. So all of it will evolve into right living.

Reflection:

~Am I doing what’s right or what’s easy?

~Will the seeds I am planting yield a “right” harvest?

~Do I have “right” focus? Do I think more about the actions of others or God’s word?

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for giving me another chance to get it right.  Forgive me for the times I have chosen the easy way over the right way. Help me to live a life that honors You.

“Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.” Psalm 37:1-3

“If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” James 4:17
